Benefits of children’s reading

If you read to your children from an early age, even when they are just babies, you will help them develop their language and you will cultivate a closer relationship with them. So says the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Reading to your children is such an intimate, exciting activity that they will grow up with a positive attitude towards reading. Studies have shown that the children who get the best grades in school are those who were in contact with reading from their earliest years. It is an act of love that helps them strengthen their abilities to listen, understand, learn and create. It is an invitation to think differently, to imagine.

“It is very important to read to babies from birth. At this stage, the warmth of your voice and the approach of love create a very special bond, which stimulates a love of literature (…) Make expressions while singing the stories and play with your baby, you will see in their gestures and smiles how they enjoy it”, says the writer Margarita Touitou.

Through reading, the little ones learn about colors, shapes, numbers and letters while children between 5 and 8 years old will expand their knowledge and begin to discover what they like the most. If they are interested in cars, they will begin to know the difference between a bus and a truck, between motorcycles and bicycles, between balloons and rockets.

Cloth books will allow them to see the works as something more than words. They will associate them with play, with joy. They will be able to bite them or use them as toys, as true adventure companions.

The game, the reading aloud and the harmony of beautiful illustrations make Entela’s books perfect for the baby’s first months.

With the stories, you will help the child to understand the relationship between cause and effect, you will lead him to exercise its logic, to understand the difference between good and evil and to understand abstract terms.

As your child is just beginning to experience, reading will help him understand how he should deal with certain situations. When he faces them in the real world, he will have a reference and will be able to better deal with anxiety and emotions.

When you’ve shown your child that reading is a joy, you’ll push him to be a great reader when he’s older. You will form a future adult inclined towards innovation, creativity, with an enormous capacity to find various ways of resolving the conflicts that life will pose.
